You were right

The song's theme is that just because we hear all these positive things people say doesnt mean they are true.
The song's music is well matched with the lyrics even though the lyrics are sad and the music is upbeat because the music shows the falacity of the song.
The song is effective in its representation of the theme because it counterbalanced itself between lyrics and music

M. F. K. Fisher article

According to the packet the writing process starts with getting the big picture. That means looking at the whole of whatever you are reading and figuring out what the basic purpose of it is. The next step is analyze. In this step you figure out the basic building blocks of the idea like in the article the different parts of a song that all fit together to make a song. The next step is inferring which is where you make claims like the one in class about those basic building blocks you analyzed. The next step is synthesis which is where you try to figure out what the person was trying to do with the piece. Evaluations the final step. This is where you decide how good the piece is and how much value it holds

Voice

1. Voice is how someone talks or writes. It is how we say what we say.
2. If somebody asks me something that everyone just automatically answers the same way like "hey man how are you doing," I'll tell them the truth even if it's not what they expect like "I've had an awful day"
3. I don't talk around something I go stait to the point.
4. It's important because it can express facts in a different light. In academic essays we avoid wordiness and bad sentence structure.
5. We develop voice by just writing more and practicing using voice.

Soapstone Dave barry

The subject of Dave Barry's Batting Cleanup and Striking Out is gender roles. Social roles adopted by different sexes are illustrated by the opening phrase "the primary difference between men and women is". This phrase shows it is about gender roles is that it is showing the difference between males and females.

Batting Cleanup and Striking Out was written during the late 1980s. The essay's time of creation is conveyed when he states that most guys wanted to be watching the world series. This shows the time period because now people aren't very interested in the world series. The probable place of the essay's creation is at his house because he mostly talks about things that happened wit his family. This shows it was written at his house because he was focused and thinking about his family.

The time and place of tzhe essay's creation influence the essay by changing the content of the essay. It changes the content because f he was at work he would probably tell storieS about work not home and about the world series instead of the NFL.

Dave Barry's specific audience for Batting Cleanup and Stiking Out is people interested in why people do what they do. The author's target audience is exhibited by the statement "[sports] is an area where men tend to feel very sensitive and women tend to be extremely calous". This statement is an analytical statement analyzing who cares about sports and why.

The author's general audience for the essay is people who want something entertaining to read. The author's general audience is expressed by his generally sarcatstic tone. This supports the audience because he is trying to get these people to laugh not be serious.

Dave Barry's purpose in Batting Clean Up and Striking Out is to entertain people. The fact that he wants to make people laugh is manifested by "babies of both sexes have a very low awareness of dirt". No body would seriously say this unless they were trying to be funny and entertain people it wouldn't make sense any other way. The purpose is further revealed by " 'hey' the men said (in Latin) 'it's mighty quie around here'". This statement isn't serious at all it's just a joke and not serious at all.

Dave Barry, whose colums have appeared in over 500 newspapers around the world, believes men are less focused on cleanliness than women. This value is demonstrated by his several paragraphs about woman's ability to notice tiny specks of dirt. This shows his value because he's specifically talking about exactly that. This value influences purpose by making it more effective because there are many funny things about this subject.

Dave Barry, who live in Miami, also believes that women in general don't care about sports. This value is illustrated by the quote " eventually all four of [the men] were in there, watching the Annual Fall Classic, while the women prattled away about human relationships or something." this statement supports the value by showing the women didn't care about a major sporting event. This influenced the authors purpose by just exaggerating it and making it funnier.

Dave Barry's use of structure is evident in his sentences with the males being short like " it turned out to be an extremely pivotal game." while the women's paragraphs were very long and flowy. This gives even more stressing to the point of men and women acting different to be funny.

Dave Barry shows a sarcastic and over the top attitude about gender roles in Batting Clean Up and Striking Out. These attitudes are expressed by the phrase absolutely brilliant and stimulate a conversation. Absolutely brilliant is very sarcastic and sardonic and stimulate a conversations shows he isn't being serious. In the essay he is trying to be funny and joking. Sarcasm shows he isn't serious or caring about the topic. The use of the quotes mentioned proves my claim by showing the connection of sarcasm to trying to be funny.

Dub step metal classic

I think the metal Version is the best because it is very expressive of the piece I think and it just sounds cool.
The version that is most pleasing is the classic it is more smooth and cohesive. I could understand it though if the metal is the most asthetically pleasing but would be surprised

Inspiring information

I get a chill relaxed feel from the song.
The blending of the drums and vocals into the background bringing out the smooth lead guitar and making the music softer.
One choice made giving this feel guitar was the guitar and keyboard over the other instruments that gives it a creamy smooth feel and moving away from lyrics to lots of vocals making a very soft feel. It's not hard at all.

Someadores

Subject: farm jobs
Occasion early to mid 1900s where latino immigrants were basically forced to work on farms in the southwest because no other place would hire them and they worked extremely long hours for pennies a day.
Audience: the farmers hiring the workers
Purpose: to convince the farmers to give the workers more for what they do
Tone: hopeful and wishful
Meaning is that we need to help the poor and weak to be even with everyone. I say this is the meaning because the painter was a huge proponent of the communist party in Mexico and because the man on the right is kind of crushed and defeated.

Writing process

They made a basic plan then they reconstructed it examined the options then made a final product.
I usually first come up with a main idea then make my main points supporting those then my sub points supporting those then make a cohearent piece which I then edit and revise and then rewrite and finish.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia is the feeling of connection to something and longing for it.
I picture in that scene people dancing and having a fun. The people are dressed in 1950's clothing. The lighting is sort of dark and yellowed lights.
My childhood makes me think of things like a food I used to eat and the funny sound it made when you stirred it it was maccaroni n' cheese, tuna, peas mixed. We made the stuff because my parents were in college and it was cheap. Another thing is songs like the ones we listened to in class like "Runaway" and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" because my grandparents love this music which makes me love it.

Pinch of Poverty

Some factors that contribute to poverty are child labor and the inability of governments where poverty is rife to financially aid their citizens.
The painting portrays poverty as dark and sad.
Is message is that people in poverty are sometimes too sad to get themselves out of their situation but for those that have hope they may be able to move on.
One element that helps that message get across is the colors which are used which are all drab but the basket of flowers which signifies hopefulness. Another element is lines they are wavy not straight indicating poorness except for the little girl who has straight legs and arms which indicates confidence and the ability to move forwards.

Live Free and Starve vs. The Singer Solution to World Poverty

The author of Live Free believes that the children who are forced into child labor would actuall be in a worse position if they were free. The author of Singer Solution believes we should stop upgrading and buying useless things and donate money to the poor. I probably have a reader's bias towards the second article because I feel very strongly towards children and their rights. However I don't agree with either of the articles completely I disagree that we shouldn't fight child labor with the first article but feel that you don't have to just give any extra money you have away. Against the first article I have a statement it makes: "[the government's of the countries that need child labor banned], mired in countless other problems seem incapable of bringing [food, clothing, and medication] to them." It seems to me that these nations need to step up and do something about this. I disagree with the idea proposed in the other document that there is no "distinction between a Brazilian who sells a homeless child to organ peddlers and an American who already has a TV and upgrades to a better one." I feel this is a silly question because obviously selling people is different than buying a inanimate object like a TV. I support neither of these arguments and feel that anyone who supports either is quite silly.

"Round and Round"

I generally don't like synthesized music nor do I like how keyboards sound which corelates my facts. I feel that I am biased towards 1980's and 70's music because that is what my parents like. I don't think however, that my listener's bias towards this genre into which this song would fall hinders my actual feeling towards it as I really wasn't crazy about it.

Starting up

Well I realized I hadn't followed directions so this time the URL is right and we are ready for posting alright... later.
